Alfa Romeo - Appearance.

The Alfa Spider is a gorgeous car to look at it turns heads with the hood up or down, is great to look at and to listen to. The Italian style oozes from this car with its sexy style it's unmistakeably Alfa.

Alfa Romeo - On the Road.

The Spider first introduced in 1966 designed by Pininfarina based on the Giulia 105 chassis with a 1570cc engine, 1967 saw the introduction of the 1750cc 118Bhp Spider Veloce. A significant change to the Spider came in 1969 in an attempt to make the car look more modern and improve luggage they changed the round tail to a Kamm style cut off tail this certainly improved luggage space. In 1974 the spider gained two occasional backseats and became a 2+2, the next major restyling came in 1983. This saw the introduction of black rubber bumpers and grille which were not universally praised. The next major change being in 1990 when then Spider received another tail change and colour coded bumpers to name but a few. In 1996 the Spider has been equipped with a 2.0 Twin Spark 150Bhp engine since introduced, when it received a facelift in 2003 this was replaced by 165Bhp JTS direct injection petrol engine a more modern version. The new Spider is a front wheel drive which means it's a secure drive which won't slip on the wet also it compromises quick steering. With the roof down the body becomes a little unstable especially at high speeds.

The original Spiders interior was very sparse containing just two bucket seats, a manual soft top and rubber floor mats needless to say this has improved dramatically over the life of the Spider and now the new Spider concentrates on the driver feeling sporty while in the cabin as well as the exterior of the car looking sporty. The standard new Spider comes with electric mirrors, stereo and 15" alloy wheels, adding the Lusso pack will achieve leather upholstery and 16" alloy wheels, this became standard in 2003.

Alfa Romeo - Safety. & Security.

The Spider of new comes with airbags, traction control and ABS as standard, it does include traction control however there is no roll over protection. Alarm and immobiliser are standard and Euro NCAP crash test are yet to rate it.
