Alfa Romeo - Appearance.

The Alfa 90 consists of the bodywork of the Alfetta which was reworked by Bertone with a small chin spoiler which extended over a certain speed to aid engine cooling. A typical Alfa design, 90 was pitched between Alfetta and Alfa 6 which both ceased production shortly afterwards.

Alfa Romeo - On the Road.

There were five Alfa 90 models produced in total ranging from a 1.8 120Bhp up to the top of the range 2.5 V6 injection with 156Bhp. A 2.4 turbo diesel with 110Bhp was also produced. An Alfa 90 Super was launched in 1986 this only had minor changes to the original most noticeably a new grille with horizontal slats. The 2.0 Alfa 90 will do 0 – 100km/h in 9.7 seconds while the 2.5 V6 in 8.9 seconds. The Alfa 90's performance is great however because of the square shape of the car this performance is only good until 170 km/hr, after this speed you will find yourself waiting for a long time, around corners it tends to roll a lot due to the high seating however the brake performance on this car is excellent.

Alfa Romeo - Inside the 75.

The interior in the Alfa 90 has been spruced up in comparison to the Alfretta, electric windows in the front areas standard rear optional, electrically adjustable seats and headrests were also standard on all models. The Gold Cloverleaf models also included central locking, power steering and metallic paint to mention a few as standard. The dashboard in the Gold Cloverleaf was also re-designed by Bertone, a conventional analogue unit in all barring the top of the range Gold Cloverleaf where a digital unit was fitted, available in four standard and four metallic colours accompanied by either grey or grey/blue interior trim. This panel runs the full length of the ceiling and also contains the control for the electric windows.

Alfa Romeo – Reliability.

The problems which have been noticed on the Alfa 90 are electrical, minor occurrences. Cooling trouble may be an issue on some models however regular maintenance will help deter this from occurring.
