Go-Karting - faster than my car engine

Monday, October 9th, 2006

go kartingOn Sunday I went go-karting for the first time and can I say what an experience. Let me elaborate.

Firstly the track was massive and in places challenging, the people who went were more experienced than myself thus it was challenging. I think the best thing about the go-karting is they have 2 engines and it seemed faster than my car engine since you only inches off the ground. This makes the speed seem immense even though my car engine does go faster, these felt faster and still did around 70 mph.

So in the practice round I came 3rd from last and in the race I came last, however here is why. Firstly the speed was immense and I’m not use to flying 70mph round a corner, thirdly I spun off many times and thirdly around 30 minutes into the race I felt sick. Determined to go on I did more laps but had to pull into the pit stop for a 3 minute breather. Then I went on to finish the race and this is where I will have lost a few more laps than most.
When I came off I felt sick but was proud to finish the iron man course of 1 hour and, even if I felt sick for a few hours afterwards. My boss wiped everyone’s but and you would think he had 3 engines attached the speed demon.

All in all a excellent Sunday morning and in short everyone should try it at least once for the almost faster than a car engine speed, the adrenaline when you spin off or are about to overtake someone and the sheer thrill off flying round corners at 70mph.

Verdict: Try ay least once and don’t worry if you ache in the morning, it is normal.
