Vauxhall ups and downs

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

As mentioned earlier i have a vauxhall corsa. The car is a nice run around, i do around 50 miles to work (100 round trip), 5 days a week and i do travel a bit on the weekend. So i need a reliable car, a nice run around with good fuel efficiency. This plus the fact I am under 25 means a nice low insurance group is also a needed necessity.

Anyway the year of my vauxhall car is 1995, however i do have some new vauxhall parts in there such as a new car gearbox put in last year. I have had it for 4 years and nothing bar the car gearbox has every gone wrong.

Yesterday however it broke. the vauxhall engine decided to become flat or the immobilizer might be doing overtime. I have tried jump starting it, however it only works if it is warm, thus i am leaning towards a flat vauxhall engine. Now either i drained the car battery and can simply recharge it, or it is leaking energy somehow and i need a new car engine battery for the engine.

So my day was thrown off yesterday since i got up at 6.45, got ready for 8 and went to set off to work and to my surprise the vauxhall engine does not kick in. This meant i had to get a bus to Durham from my home, then a train from Durham to Darlington, then another train to Thornaby and finally to Billingham in which my boss picked me up from the train station and i was in my office doing work from 11.

So although i love my vauxhall car it seems it might be worth getting a new vauxhall with a fully functioning vauxhall engine. I will keep you posted on the status of either my new car or fixing my little vauxhall. PS in the meantime i am insured on my mam’s Ford KA, which in my eyes is a bad drive on a good day, and its a 2000 reg, 5 years on from my vauxhall.

One bonus is that if i should need vauxhall parts i work at CarSpareFinder so it ain’t all bad.

Why wasnt it a vauxhall genuine part?

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

My friend yesterday bought a new vauxhall corsa 5dr hatchback, 1.3 litre engine. A very nice little car which i am quite envious of with my 1995 nissan micra hollywood.

Never the less it performs like a dream and he could not be happier apart from one thing. He is going crazy over the petrol hub cap since it says ‘Ford’ on it.

I said your nuts, its a hub cap and he replies ‘its not the point, i bought a vauxhall and i want a vauxhall genuine part‘. I can understand his viewpoint and yes all parts should be vauxhall genuine parts, however it is a hub cap which stops petrol from leaking out and you don’t see the ‘ford’ bit until your up close

if my friend would listen to me i said you can just buy a used vauxhall part for cheap using CarSpareFinder, but he says its no the point, i bought a new car and i don’t want a used vauxhall part, i want a new one!

what do you guys think. Is he crazy for going nuts over a non genuine part, or does he have a point and even though its only a small part, it still should be a vauxhall genuine part?

let me know what you think?

A deal to remember

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

according to autoexpress premium car buyers are too trusting and are lured into a false sense of security. In reality the car is just as much likely to be tampered with or brake in some way than any other car and that buyers should not buy a car because of its reputation, name and badge.

You should always get your vehicle checked before you buy and ask for a free service one year in if you have bought it from a dealer. They wont offer it to you as standard but if you ask they will give you one since they want a sale. You can even push extras such as a free wax, new tyres etc and the more your spending on a vehicle the more you can get away with.

Remember in a salesman’s eyes commission is money in the bank and with that we can gain the other hand. I can actually prove this point since i recently bought a new vauxhall vectra, 2003 from my local dealer. It was 7k and in my eyes worth the money, however i managed to squeeze some extra vauxhall parts from them, including a vauxhall ipod doc, free service, free tax for a year, and new vauxhall alloy wheels.

Try it, next time you buying cars or car parts of any value from a dealer, try and squeeze him for more. the worst thing that could happen is he says no.

Vauxhall Corsavan Revealed

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

The new Vauxhall Corsavan hatchback has been revealed. It includes several upgradeable vauxhall car parts for example you can have a 1.2 litre twinport petrol engine, or a 1.3 litre CDTi diesel engine.

Other vauxhall car parts available as features include radio and cd players, body colored bumpers, central locking, electric door mirrors, side protection mouldings etc.

So when can you expect to see one of these on the road… well march this year for around 8500 GBP, which in my eyes is a nice price for all those little extras you get

Why we love vauxhall

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

Vauxhall car parts make the vauxhall cars one of the nicest cars to own, they are up to date on safety features such as side air bags, and good chassis design. Mix in these great vauxhall car parts and the car at a affordable price and you understand out love for vauxhall.

I will elaborate a little. Research has show that for a v6 2.8 liter car engine with over 250bhp you would expect to pay over 30,000 GBP.

Well the vauxhall signum shown in the image has some amazing vauxhall car parts, for example a 2.8-litre turbo car engine with the 250bhp, 350Nm torque, and 0 to 60 MPH within 7 seconds for just over 23,000 GBP, thats 7,000 GBP under budget.

Some other great vauxhall car parts include 17 inch alloy wheels, electronically operated windows throughout, side airbags, automatic lighting control, rain sensitive wipers and electronic climate control.
If 23,000 GBP is out of your budget the vauxhall signus comes in a 1.8 car engine model for around £18,150

Vauxhall corsa is car of the year

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

The new vauxhall corsa (and its vauxhall car parts) won the title of ‘Car Of The Year’ at the motoring oscars (a yearly event eld in london)
The vauxhall corsa outshone 14 of its competitors and won for its amazing performance, stylish vauxhall car parts and the vauxhall corsa shape and size and its value for money.

Personally i agree, the vauxhall corsa has is an amazing drive, has some lovely vauxhall car parts including a wide range of vauxhall car engines (the SDI model has a range from 1.2 vauxhall engine to 1.7 vauxhall engine), nice leather interior, you can get all your safety extras including airbags (passenger, side and driver), ABS etc.

Overall the vauxhall corsa is a cheap car, with high fuel economy and low insurance cost, and with some excellent vauxhall car parts it is well deserving of its title

Robots and car parts

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Robots have had a active involvement in cars and car parts for many years, from assembly of car parts and cars to analysis of car problems and modifications such as spray painting.

It was only a matter of time before robots took more involvement in our lives and after reading a article in the jalopnik blog that day has already come. How, well robots can now actually park your car and almost triple the amount of cars you can fit into a garage.
The first garage to do so is in New York (i though it might have been japan since they love their robots and car parts and cars) and the only human involvement is the taking of cash from the customers (robots would not know if you short changed them) and obviously to monitor the robots should they start to become bad workers (e.g. throwing car parts around or letting tires down) or stop working in some way.

So robots now make car parts, make cars, change cars and now park cars. next will be robot to drive cars

Car Parts Facts

According to the RAC you are more likely to crash if your overweight, in fact twice as likely.

They claim it is due to fatter drivers get tired more easily, are harder to remove from vehicles and don’t get the full use of car parts such as air bags and seat belts.

Personally i would not thought it would make a difference, i’m am a little chubby myself but i have never crashed (touch wood). People will blame accidents on anything and sometimes its just down to bad luck. Next they will say i’m more at risk since my hands are chubbier and i have trouble using car parts such as the steering wheel or the small head of a car gearbox. Give me a break.

So if you wanted to loose weight for the new year, the RAC is giving you another reason to do so.

car parts that kill

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

galaxy used car partsWhen driving sometimes you think your invinsible and we do silly things which put us at risk and we dont even acknoledge the fact that it could be our last drive. You maybe thinking what is he on about so let me clarify. Have you ever took your eyes off the road to alter car parts such as tune a radio station, change your ipod, pick up the lolly pop you dropped etc.

All these stupid little things we do could in-fact kill us or damage us and others and increase the change of a vehicle accident, we just don’t realize it. The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute and the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety did a experiment in which over 200 drivers were recorded with cameras to monitor driving behavior. You may think people would drive more carefully with cameras on them however the experiment recorded over 80 traffic accidents and just under 800 near misses.

The findings were common sense in that if your tired, drowsy the chances of crashing is nearly four times and other factors include aggressive driving mentioned in my previous post ‘winter driving‘ and taking your eyes off the road for more than 2 seconds (yes that means fiddling with car parts such as changing the tune turning on).

So what can we do, well for starters take brakes when driving, if you have a colleague near by try splitting the journey or taking turns and be sensible and don’t fiddle with car parts yourself or do dumb things since tis not worth it. The biggest thing is to remember your in a 2 tone vehicle which can travel over 80 MPH and if you hit someone at 35 they will almost certainly be killed, so if your at 70 there is a massive change that if you crash you will no longer be with us.
There is a good report on the web for road crash statistics such as 1 in 4 people killed in a road accident are under 25
