The latest generation of Renault Masters (05/2010) now share the same vehicle development platform as the popular Vauxhall Movano van and the Nissan NV400.
The present Renault Trafic models also stem from the partnership between GM Europe (which sells in the UK under its Vauxhall brand) and the Japanese manufacturer strong in the UK, Nissan. The Renault Trafic is the same as the Vauxhall Vivaro and the Nissan Primastar.
The best news of all is that the Renault Trafic is also built in the UK at GM Europe’s UK plant in Luton alongside its Vauxhall Vivaro counterpart and also producing the Nissan Primastar. Spanish versions of the van are manufactured at Nissan’s plant in Barcelona, Spain.
The Renault Trafic van was designed by Renault’s design HQ in Paris, but has not changed much, even after its small facelift in 2006 which brought the indicators to be integrated into the headlamp housings and standardised them in the Vauxhall & Nissan models.
One of the great strengths of the Renault vans are the engines, which are highly regarded. They can be very expensive to replace cost several thousand pounds sterling, despite the longevity and robustness, is still a lot.
